Surface treatments

Painting of products in ELFE, s.r.o. has been based on NORSOK M-501 requirements.

Selection and application of a painting system is in accordance with customer‘s requirements, meet the customer´s specification respectively. Paint systems are applied to carbon and stainless steel materials using airless spray. Coating is performed in close cooperation with paint manufacturers (or with their local deputies), all their instructions are observed (safety data sheets). Further, technical specifications, drawings, working instructions or any other special guidelines are followed together with ELFE general Painting Procedure requirements.

We cooperate with main global paint manufacturers as International®, Jotun a PPG/Sigma. Regular trainings and special testing are provided by their partners

ELFE painting process starts from surface preparation – cleaning using high-pressure water jet and detergents to ensure that any grease, oil, salt and other soluble impurities are off, then abrasive blasting by GH25 steel grit follows in our blasting chamber, dimensions of 16 m x 5,8 m x 4 m. Sand blasting of stainless steel materials is secured externally. Painting chamber of the same dimensions is used for coating application in ELFE with temperature and ventilation regulation. We offer different coatings, we have experience about special systems like multilayer antifouling coating can be provided.

MEASUREMENTS, INSPECTIONS, RECORDS

All measurements and inspection results are recorded, records maintained and traceability is secured. The records are part of final documentation package (MRB) commonly provided to customer. We perform soluble salt test, dust test, check of roughness, film thickness inspections of given layers, adhesion test (pull-off test on test panels), for instance. Also climate conditions are checked during application as air temperature, steel temperature, dew point and humidity. All measurements are based on requirements of design documents and other applicable related standards.

Health and safety work is essential for us to avoid any harm to the personnel or damage of product. Only approved devices and tools may be used. Personal protective equipment is used for grit-blasting and coating.
